Dr. An Chen (Iowa State University)

Dr. An Chen, PE, LEED® AP: Assistant Professor, Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, Iowa State University. Dr. Chen has more than fifteen years of research experience on FRP sandwich panels; high-rise buildings; energy efficient structures; and bridge engineering. As a PI and Co-PI, he has managed many research projects funded by National Science Foundation, National Academy of Science, Department of Energy, State DOTs, States, and Universities. He has published 27 journal and more than 40 conference papers. He has published a book titled “FRP Deck and Steel Girder Bridge Systems: Analysis and Design” (second author). He is a licensed Professional Engineer and had four years of industrial experience on building design. As a project manager, he has completed design of about twenty new high-rise and middle-rise buildings. Dr. Chen is a member and committee member of several professional organizations, including Vice Chair of Advanced Materials and Structures Committee - Aerospace Division of ASCE.
